Mark Tinghino was born on July 7th, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois.  He grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois, and he received his B.A. in Philosophy from University of Illinois at Chicago in 1981.  He attended University of Chicago from 1981 to 1983 as an M.A./Ph.D. candidate in South Asian Languages and Civilization.  He learned to trade stock options working on his father's personal portolio during summers in high school, and he began trading futures in 1983 for his own account.  He established Mark Tinghino, CTA in 1987.  His focus is on technical analysis and cycles as a market timing mechanism.
